Can I take food/drinks into the Burdekin Theatre auditorium?

Food and beverages are permitted within the Burdekin Theatre Auditorium and Foyer.

To enter the Auditorium with a drink, these conditions will apply:

  • You are permitted to enter with one drink per person.
  • Strictly no glass will be permitted in the Auditorium. You may enter with a water bottle with a sealable lid, an aluminium can or dispense the any drink into a plastic cup provided at the bar. 
  • No hot drinks, food or snacks are permitted.

The Burdekin Theatre is a licenced venue so alcohol purchased outside of the Theatre cannot be brought into the Theatre under any circumstances. 

The Box Office is located on the ground floor of the Burdekin Theatre in the Foyer. 

Tickets can be purchased in person or over the phone at either the Burdekin Theatre Box Office or the Burdekin Shire Council Customer Service Centre. Alternatively you can purchase tickets online on this website by visiting the Event List menu and selecting the performance you wish to attend.

Many events hosted at the Burdekin Theatre support the Queensland Government's Companion Card Program which promotes fair ticketing for people who have a disability and a lifelong need for 'attendant care support' to attend venues and activities. Access to the Companion Card program is only available to Companion Card holders when booking tickets in person, or calling the Box Office on (07) 4783 9880. The cardholder or companion must provide their Companion Card details when making bookings.

Yes some shows offered a discounted price for Senior or Pension Cards holders. Please check with the Box Office staff on (07) 4783 9880 to see if the show you are interested in offers a discounted rate. 

We recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the performance starting time. All shows begin promptly and latecomers may not be allowed access once the show has begun. If you are collecting tickets before the performance starts please note that there is often lines at the Box Office and this may result in a short wait. The Box Office is always open at least one hour prior to any performance. 

All children are welcomed at the Burdekin Theatre however some shows may have restrictions or recommendations. Infants may be held on the lap of a parent during a show up to age of 12 months subject to the conditions of sale for the performance. You must advise staff that if you intend to have an infant with you during the show as per fire regulations and as some performances may charge an additional fee for infants. 

Also both the male and female toilets in the Burdekin Theatre are fitted with baby changing tables. 

All our venues a disability/wheelchair accesible. See below for each venue: 

Burdekin Theatre Auditorium 

  • Wheelchair/disability seating available in Row B acccessible to through Door C on the ground floor outside the Theatre opposite the Burdekin Library
  • Wheelchair/disability seating available in Row O accessed by taking the lift in the Foyer and entered through either Door A or B 
  • Both female and male toilets at the Burdekin Theatre have a disable toilet. 

Burdekin Theatre Music Loft 

  • Patrons can access the Music Loft by using the lift in the Burdekin Theatre foyer, there is also a wheelchair ramp leading up to the door 

Burdekin Memorial Hall 

  • The Memorial Hall is fitting with a wheelchair ramp at the front entrance of the building
  • A disabled toilet is available at the Burdekin Memorial Hall

The Burdekin Theatre Foyer, Burdekin Theatre Forecourt and Ayr Showgrounds Hall are ground floor buildings. 

No, the taking of photos or videos during a performance is prohibited unless previous authorisation has been granted by the show promoter or stage manager. Please turn off all mobile phones and other electronic devices that might cause a disturbance during the production.

It’s not necessary to be dressed formally to attend a performance at the Burdekin Theatre. Smart casual dress is adequate, and shoes are required. Because our Theatre is air conditioned, you may want to bring a light jacket or wrap.

Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area outside the theatre building. Smoking is not permitted anywhere else in the Theatre or its grounds.

All tickets sales are non-refundable as a condition of sale, except as provided by the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice.

Tickets not sold by the Burdekin Theatre or Council’s Customer Service Centre may be invalid and entry to the event may be refused.  No refunds will be issued for any tickets not purchased from authorised sellers.
